Georgina Haywood in South Africa is proof that you can never be too old to do the things you want to do in your life; and this week she proved just that with her 100th birthday celebrations by taking part in not one, but two adrenalin-fuelled activities!
The above video shows the second activity which was to cage dive with hungry sharks off the South African coast!
Wearing a full body diving suit, Georgina Haywood climbed into a submerged cage to see the sharks under water.
“An experience of a lifetime at the end of my life,” she later said.
She carried out the daring feat two days after tandem skydiving in Cape Town which you can see here:
Haywood performed the tandem skydive in Cape Town earlier this week, and not for the first time either as she previously took to the skies eight years ago at the grand young age of 92!
To add, in addition to the fun aspects of her celebrations, she was also raising money to buy lifejackets for volunteers at South Africa’s ‘National Sea Rescue Institute’.
Speaking after the dive, the super-hero great grandmother spoke of her excitement:
“I say it was a wonderful experience to be able to look around and see the earth below me,” she said.
Georgina Haywood… you truly rock!!!!
And you may also like our male equivalent to Georgina… Charles is from the UK, and this week himself also hit the headlines by setting a brand new 200m sprinting world record in the over 95’s category! We filmed this with him in Zurich back in 2013:
