Matilda is an 18 year old model and bright young student from London, UK – currently studying Theatre and Acting at the famous ‘Brit School of Performing Arts’. Matilda appears at first glance as an average young person with the usual interests and ambitions as any other of her age. But what most people don’t know instantly from meeting her is that she discovered a talent when she was just 11 years old and she has since kept this hidden from the world… until now that is!
“I’ve never met or seen anyone else who does this trick, but for me it is just flicking my legs back and then gathering speed. I can even reach high speeds of upto 40mph when flying down hills, but mostly I like just cruising in the breeze!” she says. “It makes me feel free and it’s alot of fun!”
Beyond the quite quirky stunt itself and the lovely story behind how she discovered it… Matilda represents the innate desire we all secretly have to find something we can stand out for in the world and to be recognized as being truly unique and individual with. She also represents our quite human need for child-like fun, freedom and adventure that we encourage all to embrace in our very own lives – a message we advocate through all of our work here at – be it on a bike, or in the comforts of our own environments wherever that may be!
There is also a nostalgic undertone as Matilda recollects fondly the moment her parents encouraged her to ride a bicycle for the very first time when she was younger. A common first time experience for most of us when we learn how easy something can be if we persevere with confidence and determination. And despite any levels of reservation we may have had at the thought of first attempting it. Where we take things here onwards is then down to us…

And of course, as we always say – please do not attempt to imitate any of the stunts or tricks showcased with the people we work with, especially without adhering to strict safety precautions in place. In the case of the filming with Matilda, this was coordinated in a blocked off area of Richmond Park with our own extras in the background – hence Matilda appearing on screen without her cycling helmet for the purposes of this filming only.
