World Record Stunts can often be painful, and they can also often be (quite literally!) NUTS!
In this case, a renowned martial artist based in Nellore City in Andhra Pradesh, India has just successfully set himself his 2nd officially verified world record for:
SMASHING THE MOST (WAL)NUTS WITH HIS HANDS IN 1 MINUTE.
The first question most will ask, is why. But then ‘most’ people aren’t world record holders and probably don’t think outside the box (or packet of nuts!) like Shifu Prabhakar in India. His philosophy is likely to always be “WHY NOT?!”) and so here he is showcasing his skills for smashing well over 200 very rock-hard walnuts with his hands.
According to the official rules of this unique world record, the contender is allowed to wear a fabric glove while attempting this stunt, but it is still extremely painful even for the most experienced martial artists. You only have to hold a walnut in your hand to feel how rock-solid it is, so its a very impressive skill to be able to break even a few with your hands, let alone over 200!
The previous record held by a martial artist based in Pakistan was 210 walnuts smashed in 1 minute, but Prabhakar has just earned his new record-breaking (and nut-smashing!) record title by breaking a whopping 212 walnuts in a minute!! (OUCH!)
The 35-year-old martial arts master told Newsivity that he practiced every day for upto 8 – 9 hours to achieve this feat. He also told Newsivity:
“My motivation is always to promote the martial arts as a means for health promotion and fitness, especially as being overweight and health issues are prevalent in India now. I wanted to get peoples attention by showcasing my skills with this record.” he said.
The shells, according to the official rules, had to be broken into a minimum of two pieces for it to count. The walnuts were inspected by individual witnesses to make sure that they were not damaged and raw.
As you can see in the video, the walnuts are neatly arranged in a long table, until Prabhakar smashes them to pieces to create the new record. His friends and students cheer him on in the background, and during the 1 minute countdown he successfully broke the existing record. He smashed an average of over 3 walnuts per second which is very impressive and he recorded some commentary about his recent, quirky attempt which can be seen and heard in our video above.
So if Shifu Prabhakar is nearby in your neighbourhood anytime soon, be sure to protect your (wal)NUTS! And we just can’t help but add another pun.. his skills are certainly ‘NUTTY’ and very impressive indeed!!!
A special congratulations from us to the talented and dedicated martial artist from Andhra Pradesh in India. We love ourselves quirky stunts like this and we look forward to hearing about his future record-breaking endeavours too!!!
Special Thanks to: and Shifu Prabhakar in India.
