“Life’s not always Heaven when you’re 7 Feet 7!” claims Polish Giant Mariusz La Shad. Speaking to us in his quite baritone voice, and a cheeky glimmer in his eye we loved everything about this man mountain…
We met up with Mariusz during his current tour around the UK to perform with the infamous Circus of Horrors group. Well known from their appearance on the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ series they can currently be seen traveling around the country building-up towards a busy time for them prior to Halloween season in October.
Inviting Mariusz over to the UK was the easy part… but that soon brought on its own unique challenges.
“We never really thought about his sleeping and travelling arrangements when we booked him for the show” claims Dr Haze from Circus of Horrors, “it was only when Mariusz asked where he was staying that we realised he needed a bed that was at least 8′ long and a high roofed car to get him there!”
The only solution Dr Haze has come up with so far has been to join two tents together making it in to a super long sausage tent & travel with an open sun roof with Mariuszs head sticking out through the top of the car.
There are all sorts of practical issues when Mariusz travels abroad as can be imagined, but some which also bring perks too:
“When I travel abroad the planes always upgrade me to Business Class without charge, because it is impossible for me to sit in economy, it’s not my fault!” Mariusz told us.
“They also give me champagne, maybe because they love me!” he remarks with a cheeky glint in his eye.
Meeting Mariusz in person is quite an experience, not just visually because of his stature, but also his performance character which he never sways away from.
A man who loves anecdotes, one-liners and joking around with everyone he meets.
And rather than a usual interview Q & A response… we just decided to clip together a selection of some of his best anecdotes and one-liners which he was on a roll with on the day. We loved everything about Mariusz and as much as we presumed there may have been Disney-like sentiments being as different and unique as Mariusz is, what he particularly confirmed to us was that being unique, different and comfortable with who you are is the key to everything, embracing the positive diversity of ourselves and everything around us.
We didn’t want to question whether any of the anecdotes he shared with us were true… such as being from the Titanian race and from Planet Titan for instance, here on Earth to help humanity! We’ll leave that for others to decide upon viewing our video above… secretly we are hoping what he says is very true indeed!
